WFP and USAID allocate $1.32 million to 11,000 families badly hit by floods
The World Food Program supported by the Government of Germany and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) allocated $1.32 million to be given to 11,000 families or about 55,000 people who were badly affected by floodwaters and the Covid outbreak in Banteay Meanchey province
On Tuesday, the families started receiving the money from WFP through the provincial governor.
National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) consultant, Kim Virak, said the families were from nine districts that were badly affected by floodwaters due to continuous heavy rainfall.
On Tuesday, he added that these families who were victims of double tragedy –flood and Covid- 19 – and suffering immensely from these two effects were given money through NCDM and WFP to overcome the blow they were dealt with.
Virak said that NCDM and WFP were creating Wing account to deposit the money to the affected families so that they can withdraw the cash for the next three months.
